Energy Cost Calculator
Watts times hours gives kWh; kWh times your tariff gives money - the whole of energy budgeting in two multiplications.

How it works
kWh = watts x hours x days / 1000. Multiply by your unit rate (pence or cents per kWh - the tool is currency-agnostic). A 2 kW heater for 5 hours a day is 10 kWh daily.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a 2000 W heater cost to run?
At 0.28 per kWh: 2 kW x 5 h = 10 kWh = 2.80 per day, or about 84 per month. Heaters dominate bills precisely because the arithmetic is this brutal.
What uses the most electricity in a home?
Anything that makes heat: space heaters, water heating, tumble dryers, ovens. Electronics are noise by comparison - a TV evening costs pennies.
