How it works
A standard 1200 x 2400 board covers 2.88 m2. Sheets = ceiling(wall area x (1 + wastage) / board area). Pick the board length that matches your ceiling height to avoid horizontal joints.

How many plasterboard sheets do I need?
A 3 x 5 m room with 2.4 m ceilings is 38.4 m2 of wall: 14 standard 8x4 boards with 10% wastage - fewer once you subtract the door and window.
Which plasterboard thickness?
12.5 mm is the wall standard; 15 mm for better sound/fire performance; 9.5 mm mainly for curved work and some ceilings on close centres.
