What commission do estate agents charge?
UK sole-agency rates typically run 1-1.5% plus VAT; multi-agency 2-3%. US listing commissions have historically run higher (5-6% split between agents) though this is shifting.
Is VAT charged on top of the quoted rate?
In the UK, usually yes unless the agreement says "inclusive of VAT" - a 1.25% + VAT fee is really 1.5%. Always check the wording.
