Every pack states its coverage - the only maths is area plus wastage divided by that number, rounded up.

How it works
Take the m2-per-pack figure printed on the box (laminate typically 1.7-2.5 m2). Packs = ceiling(area x (1 + wastage) / pack coverage). Keep a spare pack for future repairs.
Frequently asked questions
How much extra flooring should I buy?
10% covers cuts in a normal room; use 15% for herringbone or rooms with many angles - and one extra pack for the repair shelf is rarely regretted.
Which direction should planks run?
Convention: along the longest wall or towards the main light source. Diagonal or herringbone looks superb and eats the extra wastage you budgeted.
